Billy is a media composer, orchestrator, music educator and conductor based in West Sussex, England. He studied music at Durham University, graduating in 2022, then undertook an MA in Composing for Film and TV at the University of Bristol, where he was taught by esteemed composers including Tess Tyler, William Goodchild and John Pickard.
Billy has built up an eclectic portfolio of scores for visual media, featuring music for short films, documentaries, animations and video games. His music encompasses a diversity of styles and genres, from intimate romance and ambient soundscape, to riveting action and plucky comedy. His ability to deftly control acoustic and synthetic timbres facilitates the generation of unique and exciting sonorities. In all his music, Billy seeks to tell stories, taking his audience on a consequential narrative journey, and to say something meaningful.
Billy is currently working on scores for a nature documentary and comedy short film, and is available for more scoring opportunities.
As well as media scores, Billy is an accomplished concert composer, writing music in the classical and avant-garde traditions. Many are based on stories or ideas close to his experiences and perceptions.
As an orchestrator and arranger, Billy has been engaged to produce arrangements for several ensembles, including West Sussex Youth Orchestra, Slinfold Concert Band and Durham University Brass Band, the latter of which he has also conducted.
